Early in the morning on 24 th October 2013, under a clear blue sky with a warm alpine wind a breathtaking backdrop awaited us on the Percha boardwalk. The lake and its banks were wrapped in a soft morning glow and cloak of fine mist. During filming its appearance often changed; sometimes the fog was very thick, creating an atmosphere of endlessness, and then the autumn-coloured bank reappeared bathed in sunshine.
Lake birds swam and flew into the picture behind me the entire time and our “choreographies” harmonised wonderfully - we couldn't have arranged it better! In any case, I very much hope that the film transports this special atmosphere to dancers that use it for their regular practice. The backdrop looks so perfect and thereby nearly artificial, that one could get the impression that the Lake Serenade was recorded with a lot of work in front of a studio set. Whereas we were just lucky to be at the right place at the right time!
